The Spencer Group have raised an astonishing $40,000 in just 12 months. They are supporting a charity set up to help care for sick and deprived children in one of the world's poorest countries - Cambodia .
The money was raised through a series of events including a sponsored sky dive in October 2005, which saw employees risking their lives, free falling at speeds of 120MPH and raising over £2,000 for the charity. The Skydives were closely followed by a hugely successful Charity fund raising night at Caversham Heath Golf Club which raised in excess of £5,000. The main event of the evening was a charity auction, where employees and guests actively tried to out bid each other on prizes such as a signed Reading Football Club Shirt and Ball, a Day at the Races and an 8kg specially made Easter Egg!
The remainder of this substantial donation was raised by the Spencer Group directly donating a percentage of their profits to the fund, together with donations from employees.
In order to thank all the employees of The Spencer Group for their hard work in ensuring the charity target was achieved, as well as celebrate the Spencer Group's 5 th Year Anniversary, Managing Director Matt Trott treated all staff to a well deserved action packed day at Kirtons Farm Hotel. Staff participated in a number of exciting and unique activities including archery, air rifle shooting, blind fold driving and human table football! The day concluded with a treasure hunt, which saw the team racing around Windsor in a huge strech hummer limo and seemed to very much amuse passers by!
Managing Director of The Spencer Group, Matt Trott said, “I am delighted that so many Spencer Group employees have shown their support to The Cambodia Fund and worked so hard to ensure we hit our target of raising $40,000. As a business we have had a great year and our recent growth looks set to make our sixth year the best yet! The day at Kirtons Farm was a fantastic end to our year and way to celebrate all of our recent successes - a day very much enjoyed by all.”
